Director’s New Innovator Awards (NIH)

The Director’s New Innovator Award goes to 50 recipients nationwide each year, and grants individual researchers up to $2.3 million for their respective projects. It is designed to stimulate highly innovative research and support promising new investigators. The 2014 winners include Lili Yang at UCLA for research into stem cell-engineered killer T cells for cancer therapy and Michael McAlpine at Princeton for research into 3D printed nano-bionic organs.
