Exosomes are small bubbles measuring less than 200 nm in diameter which are released from a stem cell by exocytosis. They carry and deliver messages from a stem cell to the target tissue. An exosome is classified as an EV (extracellular vesicle). Other EV’s include microvesicles and apoptotic bodys which are larger in size. Collectively these are known as the secretome.
