The Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC) is one of 7 research councils in the UK. With an annual budget of 484 million pounds sterling, BBSRC supports about 1,600 scientists and 2,000 research students across the UK, and in some cases overseas. They recently funded a study of neural stem cells by Plymouth University Peninsula Schools of Medicine and Biomedical and Healthcare Sciences, the University of Cambridge and the Scripps Research Institute, California USA.
